Hen na Gaijin's - Travel Guide

- We're two german guys who will be visiting Japan by this years fall.
We are currently looking for some contacts in JP since this will be
our very first visit there. According to this, our task on 2ch is atm
to gain as much information as possible about Japan (espically about
Tokyo because this will be our main residence), so we will be able to
optimally prepare our visit. If someone will be up for, we would also
highly appreciate guidings of course. For example: We've absolutely no
clue about the Tokyo-Nightlife. A guide who will introduce us to it
would be really awesome! As you can see, we wouldn't expect one as a so
called "guide" to tell us historical details and such (which doesn't mean
we won't be interested if you know something). However, we rather want you
to consider it as a casual hangout then. Ok, but before mentioning anything
like this again, we should get some questions on first. Get ready.
So, lets see how this thread will turn out, if we'll be able to make some
friends and what else will come up in here. We're looking forward to your
postings... oh, and please post in english, folks. We don't speak japanese.
If you have any questions about us now, don't hesitate to post it.
A fast response by me or my pal "latte" is guaranted.
Our micorsite is located here btw -> http://yves-julien.de/~tr/

- Here we go:
Are there any interesting exhibitions/fairs/conventions fall 2006
What sights do you recommend to check out by all means?
Do you know of a hotel in Tokyo with the possibly best available
connection to the city?
What does fastfood (e.g.: Mc Donald's) cost over in Japan and how
expensive is tradional japanese 'fastfood' like ramen and so on.
Where do we have to look for the all famous pantsu-vending machines in Tokyo? w
In case this thread is in the wrong board ('travel' just seemed to fit
our criteria), please redirect us.

It's apparently no big deal to get some "friends" in the world largest community, is it?! w
Just 9.999.999 2ch'ner left... gotta love 2ch! o(^o^)o
Common everyone, we demnad your attention and some answers to our questions coz they are
really relevant to our interests（^▽^）

- Sorry, we don't speak your crazy Moonspeak, kids!
Just kidding. But srsly guys, can you post in english... umm, please?!
It's really like a pain in the ass to translate your postings with tools like "Babel Fish"
or "WWWJDIC Japanese-English Dictionary" and to add some sense to the resulting frickin'
mixture of words afterwards. In fact, japanese ppl are well educated and who ever else can
speak/write japanese must be too. So, why don't you give it a try? We don't care about the
accuracy of your postings. Important to us is that we can actually understand it to a certain
degree. That's all. And yes, we sure know that this isn't the "academy"-board where ENGLISH
is one of the practiced subjects... but hell, this is the Internet and it's international!
Don't claim 2ch to be "japanese only" or something. The world largest community just can't
act like this, does it?!
The link to the "Domestic tour board question thread 34" will surely turn out quite useful
for us and the quoting of our questions there has obviously brought up some responds yet...
well, maybe... we're still translating everything though, hehe... man, really looks like we
are in need of a JAP-ENG translator here... k, taking applications now! wwww
But again: Thanks to you and to everyone else who posted here yet. We appreciate every last
piece of attention you guys spend on this thread! ヽ( ・∀・)ﾉ

> I don't know. Tokyo Octoberfest will be held in Hibiya park every year.
Wait. Tokyo... Oktoberfest?... sounds awesome!
Too bad we recently determined our visit for october so we actually won't be able
to attend this great event which will be held from Sept. 21th to 24th according to the
official website: http://www.oktoberfest.jp/ ... we sure would have enjoyed a "brezel"
and a good beer amongst some japanese fellas. What a shame, really...
> too many
Sounds like we truly have much to discover (｀･ω･´)
> too many, let me know your badget.
We designated a budget of 100.000 JPY for a two weeks long stay. Each person of course
and half-board due to the fact that we will be on tour all day and just return if we
need some rest. So each of us got approx. 7000 JPN for a room per day. We wouldn't mind
sharing a room in order to save money, too... as long as the beds are separated.

- > 500-1000JPY by combination meal
Differs a little to our prices. But we noticed "Mc Donald's Japan" (and like the
entire rest of the world) got these sweet 100 JPY (or 1 EUR for us) whatever-things.
So, 5 cheeseburgers for the price of like one Big-Mac... guess we just found our main
food resource in Japan! wwww
> I can not understand what you mean.
Wow, they appear to be pretty rare if we receive such reactions.
Here is a better description of the thing we're looking for, search for the headline
"Truly Bizarre!!" on the page: http://www.photomann.com/japan/machines/
We need to do some action-shots in front of such a thing. It's just too whacked-out!
We can't miss a chance like this ( ´･∀･`)
Thanks for posting (and this time even in english!).
Keep up the good work, guys.

- here, menu of Mc'Donald's in japan
English web site is not found, but you can get english menu easily at the shops.
I suppose it is chaper than in Germany.
When my friends came to Tokyo from Europe, they' ve visited to Asakusa,
Akihabara, Tzukiji Markt, Ginza,Shibuya, Shinjiku for shopping,
and Nakano to find some manga and Anime goods.
I think its standard way to see around recently Tokyo.
I recommend to visit Yokohama and kamakura if you have times.
What exactly are you interested in?
Also it is possible to make a day trip to Nikko or Hakone from Tokyo.
here the site of tokyo octoberfest.
Brezel was same as Munich at least, but there was no backhendl !!
and the bier mug was half size of real Octoberfest.......
- 13 ：列島縦断名無しさん：2006/01/06(金) 06:53:32 ID:Rpa7+s1e0
- This site seems to be a help for you to find hotels.
Tokyo station area, Akasaka area, Shinjuku area or Shinagawa area
are good for your convenience, although it is just my opinion.
- 14 ：emuxx：2006/01/06(金) 09:15:30 ID:v8NuqUsa0
Thanks for the link to the menu... even though I'm hella hungry now, seeing all this. w
Good to know that english writen menus will be available on site... I am afraid
otherwise we would have been doomed to starve to death, hehe. And about beeing cheaper:
You got cheaper drinks, we got cheaper burgers... but only with small differences.
Yes some of the places you mentioned are quite familiar to me (not that I've ever visited
them yet, I just came across'em by doing some researches on the internet) some are completly
new to me, however. Thank you for suggesting all these. We will run some checks on them online.
Oh, and day trips will be of course part of our program. Current idea is to stay one week
in Tokyo itself and to explore this megacity from the ground up, visiting Akihabara, Tzukiji
Markt, Shibuya etc., checking some sights and stuff. 2nd week will be filled by day trips
then. We'll get ourselfs a one-week-railpass and doin some expeditions outside of Tokyo.
Some possible destinations for them can be viewed here: http://www.tokyo-ryokan.com/onedaytrip.htm
Every feedback about locations in- and outside of Tokyo is very welcome!

- 15 ：emuxx：2006/01/06(金) 09:17:01 ID:v8NuqUsa0
- Our exact interests?
Well, first there is "Having a good time!", hehe. We are kinda fascinated by the japanese culture,
so I guess I can say: Japan is our both exact interest. Splitting this further up, there'll be like:
1. Anime and Manga. Of course...
2. Food. We are really lookin forward to have some delicious fresh ramen in Japan. mmmm
3. Japanese Films. Especially my pal "latte" is addicted to them, haha.
4. Game / Computer / Tech related stuff - Geek on!
5. P-A-R-T-Y! w00t!!
6. Meeting some new friends we can share our experiences with~
... I could go on like this forever. Thinking about Japan, then comparing it with my
interests... man, it's like every aspect of Japan is worth to be checked out and relevant
to my interests! wwww
Oktoberfest without some backhendl and only half sized beer mugs?
That's like... the pope beeing a jew, lol. But really. Oktoberfest... in Tokyo?!
No matter how small the mugs are and what else is missing, this is an instant win, haha.
Thank you. Link has been bookmarked and locations are noted.

- If you are from Europe, how about renting a car take a drive on the Metropolitan Expressway(or Shuto Kosoku in Japanese)
I'm sure the Expressway is one of the most complicated (and the busiest) road system in the world.
Here's some samples of movies of how it looks like driving on th Expressway.
It is so exciting driving on this crazy elevated road on such a huge city.
I bet there aren't any kinds of road like this in an Autobahn country.

Thats actually an awesome idea! The movies were definitively convincing.
I guess our only problem would be that you drive on the left in Japan. wwww
That's a sweet bunch of links you got there...
this one in particular > http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/1880656884/
zOMG, THANKS!!!! lol
I am terribly sorry for you... I guess I'll have to cry now, too（つД｀）
This thread is free for all of course. However, if you have to say something, please try
to do it in english. In case you are just attempting to flame, troll, spam or whatever else
here, you especially should have the guts to do it in english in order to avoid acting like
a coward. To say it again: We don't understand japanese, sorry everyone. Message: If you have
nothing decent to say, just don't post in here. There are lots and lots of other threads on
2ch which ARE in japanese. Take one of them. Thank you.
